I participated in the NSF CISE Aspiring PI Workshop held on August 6–7, 2026 in Greenville, South Carolina.

It was an enriching experience meeting NSF CISE program directors, networking with fellow faculty, and engaging in deep discussions on federal research proposal strategies and grant writing in computer and information science.

Transitioning Forward: Farewell to UMN Crookston

I am announcing that my time as a Lecturer at University of Minnesota Crookston has come to an end. I have formally resigned from my position and will be transitioning forward in my career. During my time, I taught a wide range of courses across software engineering, computer science, and information systems, advised the IT Club, and served on academic committees. This chapter is now complete, and I am focusing on the next steps ahead.

I appreciate everyone who connected with me during this period. I look forward to new opportunities, continued work in teaching and research, and the next phase of my professional journey.

I am delighted to share that I presented research at the Gerontological Society of America (GSA) 2025 Annual Scientific Meeting. It was a fantastic opportunity to share our research on AI-driven interventions for aging and to connect with other experts in the field.

CareBuddy Accepted at GSA 2025

My late-breaking abstract, “CareBuddy: A Multi-Agent Conversational AI for Alzheimer’s Care and Assistance,” has been accepted for presentation at the Gerontological Society of America (GSA) 2025 Annual Scientific Meeting in Boston, Massachusetts (Nov 12–15, 2025).

CareBuddy represents an important step forward in applying multi-agent large language models to support Alzheimer’s patients and caregivers, integrating intelligent task coordination, medical information retrieval, and contextual reminders into one assistive ecosystem. I’m deeply grateful to the GSA Program Committee for recognizing this work, and I look forward to connecting with researchers, clinicians, and innovators advancing AI for aging and dementia care.

Student Success: Fake News Detection Paper at IEEE CARS

I’m thrilled to share that my student-led paper “Fake News Detection in Bangladesh Using GPT-4 with Retrieval-Augmented Generation” has been accepted at IEEE CARS 2025. This project tackles the urgent problem of misinformation in a low-literacy environment by leveraging the power of GPT-4 with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).

It’s inspiring to see students take on such impactful research directions. What makes this even more special is that this marks the third publication I’ve supervised this semester — a true reflection of the hard work, creativity, and dedication of my students. Proud moment as a mentor!

Joined Editorial Board of Inspire Intelligence

I am honored to join the Editorial Board of Inspire Intelligence, an international journal published by Inspire Academic Press. The journal focuses on cutting-edge research in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, LLMs, Healthcare, Software, and beyond.

Being part of this editorial team provides an exciting opportunity to engage with groundbreaking work in AI and related fields. I am looking forward to contributing to the growth of the journal and supporting researchers in sharing their valuable contributions with the academic community.

Undergraduate Success at IEEE IST 2025

As a faculty member, there are milestones that feel truly special — and this is one of them. For the very first time under my supervision, two of my undergraduate research students have had their papers accepted at an international IEEE conference. Both papers will be presented at the 2025 IEEE International Conference on Imaging Systems and Techniques (IST 2025) in Strasbourg, France.

Christopher Carlson presented "AI-Powered Detection of Rice Leaf Diseases: A Survey of CNN Architectures and Attention-Based Methods," and Juan Boyer presented "Graph Neural Networks for Cancer Mutation Analysis." This is not only a testament to the talent and hard work of our students but also a reminder of why mentoring young minds is one of the most rewarding parts of academia.

Paper Accepted at ASSETS’25 Workshop

I am thrilled to share that our paper “Beyond the Lab: Reflecting on the Borders of Accessibility for a High-Tech AI Caregiving Assistant” has been accepted to the ASSETS’25 Workshop on Accessibility Research Across Borders: Collaboration and Community Building in Accessibility and ICTD Research.

This workshop brings together global researchers, educators, and practitioners to explore how inclusive research practices and cross-border collaboration can strengthen accessibility and assistive technology design. Our work reflects on the challenges and opportunities of building AI-powered caregiving assistants, particularly at the intersection of accessibility, community needs, and high-tech innovation.
